We’ve been sitting on some big news here at Laridian. We’ve kind of been dropping hints about some titles that are coming out soon, but didn’t want to say anything until we were actually closer to release dates.
Well that time has finally come. Here it is…

We have signed a contract with Thomas Nelson for twenty titles!
I’ll list the titles below, but just want to say how hard we’ve been working on this contract and on the titles. Both things have been happening simultaneously. Watch your email this month for offers for some of the titles on this list. Because of the things that need to happen in the background we won’t be releasing all of the titles at once, but they will be coming out over the next several weeks.
Enjoy!

Can’t wait to put a few of these on my iPhone! Hint Hint.
That’s a pretty big announcement. Looks like there are going to be some great releases soon. Now if I could just actually afford all of the ones I’d use.
This sounds great. I’ll be saving my money for the new releases.
If you could only get Zondervan to give up on Pradis, and partner with PocketBible for Windows….
I agree with Paul about Pradis. And try to get Oxford Press to let you replace their dead program so we can have the New Oxford Annotated Bible and the Oxford Companion to the Bible. While we’re dreaming, how about asking Westminster-Knox to let you publish the updated Barclay Daily Bible Study Series. I’m not asking for too much am I?
While were dreaming. Why not source some family and kid devotional/scripture material we could use around the meal table with our children. ie. You just finish dinner and you pull out your PocketBible with the next kids devotion.
Then there is the useful memory verse system called Memlock. This would be nice for the family to learn scripture after a meal or practice in the car.
Absolutely wonderful. Thanks for all the behind-the-scenes hard work, required to make it happen. I second Josh’s comment, by the way, am anxious to transfer all my current volumes, plus some of the new ones to come, to my iPhone!!
Know y’all are terribly busy, but would sure love to see an update on the iPhone process, when time allows.
Blessings to all…
I made an inquiry to Laridian Support to see if my annual iPocketBible subscription had run out and this is the reply I received:
Yes, your subscription has run out. I recommend going with the monthly since we’ll be out with a native version before another year comes around. I cannot say, specifically, when it will be ready. There are too many unknowns.”
This response makes it sound like the PocketBible native app for the iPhone is not exactly “right around the corner”
Jeff
Nobody here has ever said the iPhone app is “right around the corner”. In fact we’ve gone to great lengths to make it clear it won’t happen instantly.
The first alpha version went out to a group of about 20 testers last week. We got some good feedback. You should join the PocketBibleiPhone list at http://lists.laridian.com for the latest news.
I was going to post this under Tech Support – General, but most of the comments are quite old. Anyway…is there any technical reason to limit the number of titles in a frame in PB for Windows to 16? It was the same way with PB for CE when I used a HP Jornada 768. I have 22 bibles, 25 commentaries, and 18 dictionaries. It would really be great if I didn’t have to turn them on & off to see them all. The other thing that would be great is the feature in PB for PPC where I can see a verse in all bibles, all commentaries or see a word in all dictionaries. I know in PB for Windows, I can simply click through the tabs, but it’s great to be able to see a concise list of all the matches. One last request…how about the ability to change the names of the colors for the highlights. Instead of Crimson, Aqua, Yellow, etc., the ability to rename the colors to things like “Essential Christian Doctorine”, “Favorite Verses”, etc.
Thanks for your time and all that you do!
Joel Peterson
Anyway…thanks for all that you do!
Any further word on release date(s) for the new Nelson Collection?
Emails for a group of these titles started going out last night around midnight EST. Watch your inbox for the announcement and priority code!
I see it’s released for the Windows Mobile users but when for the MyBible Palm OS users?
OK…I’m ready to buy the new books…when is my discount e-mail coming out???
Thanks!
Wow! This is tremendous news indeed! I attend John MacArthur’s church and the only thing that had been missing from the Laridian software for me was John’s excellent study bible notes (that I have in hardcopy, but always wanted with the PocketBible software). I can’t wait for this to come out!
@Joel The emails are about 75% complete. You may have received yours by now. If you don’t (this applies to anyone reading this) let me know and I’ll get you the code.
I love the new titles and look forward to the rest of the Nelson library. Do the New “Illustrated” Bible Commentary and the “Illustrated” Bible Manners and Customs books retain all of the illustrations, charts, etc. that are in the print versions?
@Dana, The “Illustrated” titles do contain all of the images that are included in the print version. While I’m happy that we’ve been able to retain the images it does make the titles extremely large. Required RAM for the Dictionary is 262 MB and for Manners and Customs it is 150 MB. If you don’t already have a large capacity disk for your device you may want to get one. Thankfully they’re not that expensive anymore.
Still haven’t seen the Nelson’s New Illustrated Manners and Customs of the Bible, though it was in a discount code email last year … ??
Can you get the New Defender’s Bible (Henry Morris, ICR), since I now see that it is published in Hardback by Nelson?
when will the esv study bible be released for both pocketbible and OS palm? will the MacArthur study bible notes ever be available for the palm platform? please advise thanks
There’s a great answer to your ESV question here: http://blog.laridian.com/?p=131
