PocketBible for Mac OS!!

PocketBible for Mac OS Kickstarter Project

You’ve been asking about a version of PocketBible for the Mac for years — now’s your chance to make it happen! We’ve started a Kickstarter project to raise the funds necessary to create a version of PocketBible for Mac OS, and we need your help to reach our goal!

Kickstarter is a “crowd-funding” site that lets you pledge financial support to projects you believe in. In return for a minimal pledge, you get a reward. Our rewards start at the $25 level and go all the way up to $1000 ($5000 for our publishing partners). So, for example, for a minimum pledge of $100, you’ll get our 2014 Silver Edition PocketBible Library for Mac when it is released, plus you’ll get the “Advanced Features” add-on for PocketBible for Mac OS. Total value is a little over $100, plus you’ll have the benefit of knowing you helped make PocketBible for Mac OS happen!

You do not pay, nor do we receive any of the money, unless we reach our funding goal before the deadline of July 15. So you don’t have to worry about getting charged for an underfunded project that will never be completed. We’ve set a very modest funding goal of $28,500 mainly to verify that there is, in fact, a real market for PocketBible for Mac OS. If we reach this goal, we’ll kick in the balance of the funding it will take to complete this project.

If you pledge to the project, you’ll get regular project updates as we work on PocketBible for Mac OS. You’ll be able to “watch the sausage being made”, as they say. It should be interesting, and we’re really looking forward to having a version of PocketBible for Mac OS! We’re Mac users here, too, and it would be great to have PocketBible on our Macs!

You can read all the details at our Kickstarter project page.

If you want a version of PocketBible for the Mac, now is the time to make a pledge and support the project!

I’ve been waiting years for this. I see I was the first to pledge. I really hope this works out…

I’m not a Mac user but I’m all for having PocketBible on all platforms! What a great idea to use KickStarter for this!

    • Craig, you can pledge even if you don’t have a Mac. And since our books are usable on any platform, you can pick an appropriate reward level and use the books in the Library Collection you choose on any device. :-)

I have used your products for a very long time. I am very happy to support this effort. Thank you so much for all of the hard work you put into your products. You are making a difference in this world. I cannot even begin to tell you of how much I have used pocket Bible. Thank you and God Bless you.

If we pledge at the $1,000 level, do we get the benefits of the $500 and lesser amounts pledge? Thanks for creating such a great product that I can share across platforms (iPhone, iPad, PC, Pocket PC, BlackBerry, etc.!!!)

    • Mike,

$50 gets you the Bronze collection. At $100 you get the Silver collection, which is all the books in the Bronze plus more. $200 is Gold, which is all the books from Silver plus more. $300 is Platinum, which is Gold plus more. $500 is gets you the Exclusive Kickstarter collection, which is Platinum plus more. $1000 gets you the Exclusive Kickstarter collection plus credit in the app, plus credit and a link at the website. At all levels you get the Advanced Feature Set.

It’s not the case that $1000 will get you one each of the Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Kickstarter collections. If you did, you’d end up with multiple copies of some books, which wouldn’t do you much good. It is the case, though, that you get all the books and Bibles you get at the lower levels.

Craig, the Pocket Bible has become so powerful that I use it to study when I am putting together a Power Point sermon on my Mac. I was recently thinking it would be so great if the program was available for my Mac……. The only thing the Pocket Bible lacks is parsing and tensing. Larry.

  6. Daniel says:

This is a genius move and I’ll be proud to be a supporter!

  7. Dave Owen says:

I use PocketBible daily and even as an owner of Logos I will still be eager to have PocketBible on my Mac. The reason? I want something that runs quickly and is not complicated! Most of the time I really don’t want a lot of advanced stuff. So I am all for it if it has a feature set similar to the iPad version, and especially if it will synch as I do between iphone and iPad.

  8. Craig Horlacher says:

Craig R. – Great point that all the books would still work for me even if I don’t use the Mac version. This would be a great way for Android users who have been nagging you, like myself, for the past three years to say thank you.

If I was still single I would have already pledged but now that I’m married with two kids my finances work a little differently than they did. We’ll see! I do thank you for your hard work on all platforms!

I will pray for fast and full funding – which you’re well on your way to at nearly 30% on day two as I write this post!

  9. Cynthia Wade says:

Happy to support this. Have used Pocket Bible since my Palm days and now it is on iPad mini, iPhone and regular iPad. And I recommend it all the time to friends.
You have very reasonably let me continue to use different platforms with no additional charges, which I appreciate!
However, I can’t really believe that there is ONLY a 6% market share for Mac users! How can that be possible when there are so many of us using Macs! I can’t even get in the Apple store in all the Houston locations without tripping on someone.

  10. For those of you who are interested in this project, don’t hesitate to share it with your Facebook and Twitter friends! If we come up short of our goal, we don’t get anything and we can’t start the project. So it’s in your own best interest if you get others to pledge. Thanks so much for the opportunity to pledge for Pocket Bible for Mac. It will be a great advantage to laptop and iPad/iPod users. I have used your software since QuickVerse for DOS and have really enjoyed your products.

  12. Excited to see you made the goal, sure would like to see a publishing partner step up! I would be curious to know how many supporters are not Mac users. I already own a large percentage of the reward package I was able to support and do not foresee obtaining a Mac any time soon. (Not that I wouldn’t take one if someone gave it to me :) looking forward to my new titles!

    • Jeffrey,

I’m not too concerned about the publishers. I put the rewards in there for them on the off chance that one of them would be interested in promoting themselves on our site or maybe expanding the list of titles they offer with us under attractive terms. The problem with dealing with large corporate entities is they just don’t move very fast. We gave them only 40 days to act, and we did it right when they’re getting ready for the big Christian retail expo of the year (ICRS in July, which is really all about buying for Christmas). So I didn’t have high hopes. So don’t take it as an indictment of the Mac or of Christian publishers. This is pretty much what I expected.

And there’s still five days, so….
