Laridian’s Plans for webOS

In 2009, Palm announced a new operating system, webOS that would replace the well-loved but rapidly aging Palm OS on its new phones. While it provided a way for old apps to run on the new devices using an emulator called Classic, such apps were not well integrated into the new OS.

We at Laridian were concerned that we would not be able to justify the development time involved in completely throwing away our code and starting over on a new version of MyBible for webOS. So we began a search for a partner we could work with to offer our customers who migrated to webOS a way they could retain the value of the investment they had in Bibles and books purchased from Laridian.

So a while back we announced a partnership with Bits of God Software to help them create a version of their Simple Bible program for webOS that would be able to access Laridian Bibles and books.

Bits of God Software released a product called Simple Bible Pro shortly before HP announced that it was all but abandoning the webOS platform. We don’t anticipate any further releases of Simple Bible Pro.

Simple Bible Pro FAQ

Will I have to repurchase the Bibles and reference books I previously owned? No. We have a buy-it-once, own-it-forever policy here.

How will I transfer Bibles I bought for MyBible (or PocketBible) onto my webOS device? You won’t. Instead, you’ll run Simple Bible Pro on your phone and log into your Laridian account from there. You’ll be able to download any Bibles and books you already own directly into the Simple Bible Pro application.

Do I need to be continuously connected to the Internet to use Simple Bible Pro? No. Once you download the Bibles and books you want, you no longer need to be connected to the Internet. The books are stored on the device (or on a memory card) and you access them from there even when you don’t have access to the Internet.

I have a question that isn’t answered here. Very little support for Simple Bible Pro is available now that HP has abandoned the platform. You can try contacting Bits of God Software through their website.
